Learn how Aldo Leopold’s early career was influential outside of Wisconsin and provided him with experiences that shaped his later thinking and writings of A Sand County Almanac. The Aldo Leopold Foundation Staff will lead a discussion that closely examines Aldo Leopold’s life and work before he bought the famed Shack in Sauk County. From his time with the US Forest Service in the American Southwest to helping establish the first management plan for the Grand Canyon to even proposing the first-ever wilderness area within the USFS, Leopold’s reach and influence can be found well beyond Wisconsin’s borders.
