Christmas at the Mansion
Christmas at the Mansion returns this year with three days to experience the warmth, charm, and cheer of the holiday season. Throughout the historic Van Orden Mansion in Baraboo, ten real Christmas trees and the rooms they are in will be decorated taking inspiration from this year’s theme – “A Wisconsin Christmas.” Elements of the Badger State will inspire the adornments that some of our decorators have been working on all year long.
The first-floor rooms will include a tribute to Wisconsin grown foods like cranberries and popcorn, cookie cutters made in Wisconsin by the Mirro Corporation, the Christmas tree schooner – the Rouse Simmons, an 1830s military Christmas, and a German heritage Christmas. The second-floor rooms will feature winter sports, woodland animals, Badger red, a dairy tribute, and an entire room dedicated to decorations, gifts, and beverages made in Wisconsin from aluminum Christmas trees to children’s books.
The mansion will be open from 1 to 6 pm each day from December 13 to 15 for the Jingle Bell Open House Days. Live music will fill the mansion as soloists and ensembles play Christmas music on a variety of instruments. The dining room table will be piled high with Christmas cookies and other refreshments.
