Flirting With Danger Screening
Where is the line between consent and coercion? How do contradictory societal messages about female sexuality shape young women’s experiences of safety and violence? Join Hope House and the UW-Baraboo Sauk County PRIDE Club in discussing these questions and more through a screening of Flirting With Danger, a documentary about the complexities of power and choice in young adults’ heterosexual relationships. Help us recognize the end of Domestic Violence Awareness Month by engaging in honest conversation about the cultural factors that contribute to sexual and relationship violence – as well as how we can all make a difference by promoting values of equality and consent. Please note: the documentary includes sexual imagery taken from mainstream media, explicit language, and discussion of sexual and relationship violence. A Hope House staff person will be available to provide support during or after the film. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic or sexual abuse, you can call Hope House’s 24-hour confidential helpline at 608-356-9123.
