Christmas at the Mansion
Experience the warmth, charm, and cheer of the holiday season at the historic Van Orden Mansion in Baraboo! Twelve real Christmas trees and the rooms they are in will be decorated taking inspiration from this year’s theme – “Memories of Christmas.”
From a 1950s schoolhouse Christmas to a trip to see the State Capitol Christmas Tree, decorators have drawn from personal memories or common traditions as they have lavishly decorated their spaces. Dave SaLoutos is creating an entire room devoted to Christmas at a Woolworth’s department store complete with vintage decorations and a lunch counter. In another room, Laurie Dummer will showcase handcrafted creations made from Christmas cards. A miniature Christmas village will be set up in the dining room and Santa will be coming to town in the Society’s 1903 Michigan automobile which has been set up in the living room. Surprises await around every corner.
All three days live music will fill the mansion as soloists and ensembles play Christmas music on a variety of instruments. The dining room table will be piled up high with Christmas cookies and refreshments.
Tickets will be available at the door for $10 per person. Children aged twelve and under are free as are all SCHS Members.
Don’t miss this annual holiday tradition! Come enjoy the wonder of the Christmas season at the Van Orden Mansion!
