Job Description
Established company is in search of a part time bookkeeper/accountant to support ongoing projects within our firm. The bookkeeper/accountant position creates financial transactions and creates financial reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting journals or accounting software from such source documents as invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. The bookkeeper/accountant also reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy.

This position will require the following skills/responsibilities:
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks (or similar) to perform client bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations & journal entries
  • Preparation of payroll, payroll tax returns, W2s, sales tax returns, and 1099s
  • Interpret and prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses
  • Record transactions for income and expenses
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of third party balance sheet account
  • Prepare financial statements when applicable
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines using time management skills
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Should have knowledge in using desktop calculators, photocopiers, scanners, Microsoft applications (Office, Excel, Word), and also be able to problem-solve
  • Attendance at various networking events
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable in one–on-one meetings with clients (in person and via phone)
  • Physical requirements - this position involves sitting for long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending, and some lifting
     
Desired Qualifications: The bookkeeper/accountant candidate should have an Associate's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as knowledge of bookkeeping. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of the QuickBooks software package.
