Although trained as a scientist, Aldo Leopold understood the power of good storytelling. Many of Leopold’s most cherished essays, including “Good Oak” and “Marshland Elegy,” are conveyed through the lens of history. As a professor and a mentor, Leopold often encouraged students to study the history of the land. Matt Blessing, state archivist, will consider how Aldo Leopold adapted historical methods and helped to forge the discipline of environmental history.
