Ho Chunk Dance Exhibition @ UW-Baraboo/Sauk County Gym
To honor Native American Awareness Month, you are invited to a Ho-Chunk Dance Exhibition at the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County Gymnasium. Enjoy the pageantry and beauty of traditional Ho-Chunk ceremonial dances, while the history and cultural significance of these traditions are described. The exhibition starts at 3 PM on Wednesday, November 8. Admission is free.
This exhibition is part of the NEA Big Read project organized by the University of Wisconsin Colleges and Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community Colleges’ students, faculty, and staff. Wisconsin Reads The Round House: An NEA Big Read is intended to bring communities around the state together to discuss Louise Erdrich’s The Round House, as well as her youth novel The Birchbark House. Book discussions and engaging, informative programs addressing topics of interest to the whole community will be presented in the Baraboo area in early 2018.
Partners who will be presenting the Big Read programs for adults and children in the Baraboo area are the UW-Baraboo/Sauk County, the Ho-Chunk Nation, and the Baraboo Public Library. Sponsors for this Big Read project are the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Wisconsin Humanities Council.
